About time in Madrid

Madrid uses Central European Time (UTC+1, or UTC+2 in summer) even though it lies west of Greenwich, roughly in line with London. Spain adopted CET in 1940 and never switched back, which is one reason Spanish sunrises and meal times are late by the clock. Clocks go forward on the last Sunday of March and back on the last Sunday of October, in step with the rest of the EU.
